Privacy policy

OfficeRated is a reference site. You can read every page without an account, and we don't ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.

OfficeRated.com is operated by Birch Brook Media (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, who collects it and what choices you have.

Information we collect

We don't run accounts, comment sections, newsletters or contact forms, so we don't collect information you type in. The only information collected is the standard technical data your browser sends when you load a page, described below.

Hosting and security (Cloudflare)

The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical request data such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie if your connection needs to be checked. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Analytics

We use two analytics tools to count visits and see which pages are useful. We use the results only in aggregate, never to identify you.

Cloudflare Web Analytics. A privacy-first tool that doesn't use cookies or local storage and doesn't track you across sites. It records page views, referring sites, browser and device type and approximate country.
StatCounter. StatCounter records page views, referring sites and search terms, browser, device, screen size, approximate location and IP address. It sets a first-party cookie to tell new visits from returning ones. See StatCounter's privacy policy.

We don't use Google Analytics, advertising networks, retargeting pixels or social-media trackers.

Affiliate links and cookies

Some links to retailers are affiliate links. When you click one, the retailer, for example Amazon, may set its own cookies in your browser so it can tell that you came from OfficeRated. If you buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those cookies are set and controlled by the retailer, under the retailer's own privacy policy, not ours. We don't receive your name, address or anything else about your purchase.

OfficeRated is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Read our full affiliate disclosure.

Fonts, images and outside links

Fonts and images are stored on our own server, so loading a page doesn't send requests to font or image services. Links to manufacturers, retailers and other sites take you to sites with their own privacy practices.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works fully without them.
Ad and tracker blockers can stop the analytics scripts from loading.
We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children

OfficeRated is a business-equipment reference for adults. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
